Television Article | Reuters.com: "Reuters | Podcasts Catch on at NBC, ABC news divisions"

The big boys are giving creedence to the medium now. So all those folks worried about whether or not podcasting will "catch on" can stop worrying. It's catching on! But it is still very early in the game. So if you're thinking about starting a podcast then now's the time to go for it.

R,

Have you listened to today's Scripting News? Dave offers interesting commentary. Many people are thinking once iTunes 4.9 surfaces their podcasts will suddenly gain acceptance from Apple.

I disagree. I Think Apple's concept will be-ABC,NBC,NPR Rush L. etc.

Dave seems to share the same opinion.

Yes, I did hear the MCN by Winer today. I thought his take on Apple was an interesting one. He seems to think that Apple is going to totally control podcasting very soon.

Here's my question. How can Apple be dominant if they're going to limit access to podcasts by only having podcasts from 'pro' outlets? And we don't know how (or if) they're going to employ DRM. DRM is a huge buzz kill.

I personally get enough news from the major outlets so I'm not that interested in what I've heard from Apple so far. Plus I use an iRiver anyway.

If Dave's info is correct, PodShow and Odeo can breathe easy for the moment.
