Applecasting
Word is spreading all over the Podosphere about Apple Computer announcing support for podcasting in the 4.9 release of iTunes. It's reported that Steve Jobs indicated that the next version will have the ability to play and manage podcasts. Hmmm. It won't be long before these folks jump in to try and steal the thunder of Odeo and PodShow. Adam Curry hinted on his Daily Source Code show that a recent meeting with Jobs yielded something favorable for PodShow. Is there an alliance in the offing? Or was Jobs just paying them lip service?
In other podcasting gossip...Someone recently told me that Adam Curry might actually be paying Sirius Satellite Radio to put his PodShow on the air, attempting to use the satellite network to help create buzz for future online activity. It's certainly a possibility, although no one has publicly confirmed the terms of the deal.

R,
According to this article, Apple will hand pick what casts they make availble.

Thanks Paul.
Here's the quote:
"Current plans call for podcasts to be free downloads," wrote Mena Trott, co-founder of Six Apart Inc., and also in the audience. "Users will submit their podcasts and Apple will be hand picking the content it makes available to iTunes users."
That's interesting and sounding more like Podshow at that. "Support" is such a broad term. From this quote it seems that it there won't be traditional podcatching ability built in. I can't see people getting to excited at this type of implementation if they can't use it to subscribe to all of their favorite podcasts.
R,
I just heard something about being able to charge 5 or 10 cents per program as well...this is interesting. I'll let you know if I hear more.
